Principles for Illumination Designing

The Soul of the Building

Every building is endowed by its designer life and meaning. The appearance

and the meaning given by the designer is the soul of the building. It is essen-

tial for illumination designing to embody the soul of the building by various

means of illuminating.　

Decorative Lighting

It is important to take the features and limitations of the building’s structure

into consideration when the soul of the building is reflected by means of ill-

uminating. In regard to the shapes and installation of lamps, it will be best if

the original structure of the building is changed the least and the lamps and

the building become an integral whole, which makes the lamps a decorative

lighting.

The Fifth Square is featured by the structure of its top,which is irregularly

shaped and unsymmetrical. In addition, the exterior of the glass-walled buil-

ding is divided by different colors. When designing astrovision of the Fifth

, we followed the designer’s idea by installing the lamps behind the

glass curtain walls to maintain its original appearance during the day time.

In the meantime the shape of the astrovision fits the division of the-

glass curtain walls.

Yuanheng Plaza is featured by the metal figures on the sur-

face of the building, which makes the building look respec-

table and original. Taking the designer’s concept into consi-

deration, we lit the metal figures completely and at the same

time visual effect could be achieved. We hid the illuminating

products in the metal figures so that the designer’s concept

is reflected both in the daytime and at night.
